PHARMACEUTICALSPre-clinical Toxicology & Study DesignDr. Parent has designed and conducted numerous pre-clinical toxicology studies under GLPs at CROs in the US, Canada and Japan. Studies have included the range of acute and sub-chronic studies in rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, and monkeys. Exposure routes have included inhalation, intra-venous, intra-tracheal, gavage, sub-cutaneous, dermal, and dietary. He has successfully carried out chronic studies in rats and mice which have been validated by the National Toxicology Program. Specialty studies have included metabolism, pharmacokinetic, and metabolite identification studies using tracers in rats, mutagenesis studies using a variety of in-vivo and in-vitro assays, percutaneous absorption studies in rabbits, teratology studies in rabbits and rats, and 2-gen reproduction studies in rats. One of Dr. Parent’s specialties is inhalation toxicology, and he has conducted an efficacy study (among others) involving post-treatment of rats exposed to lethal doses of an acute pulmonary toxin as well as toxicity studies on hair spray formulations.
